Segments are dynamic groups of contacts based on specific criteria like event attendance, purchase behavior, or campaign engagement. Unlike static lists, segments automatically update as contacts meet or no longer meet the criteria. For example, a "VIP Customers" segment will automatically include new contacts who spend over a certain amount. Use segments to send personalized email and SMS campaigns to the right audience, improving engagement and conversion rates.
Yes! Segments are dynamic. As contacts meet or stop meeting the criteria, they are automatically added or removed from the segment.
Absolutely. Saved segments can be reused across as many email and SMS campaigns as you need.
AND narrows your audience (all conditions must match). OR expands it (any condition can match). For example, "City is Montreal AND Total Spent > $100" targets only high spenders in Montreal, while "City is Montreal OR City is Toronto" targets fans from either city.
Use "is none of" or "not in" operators. For example, "Opened Campaign is none of [Campaign X]" targets people who did not open that specific campaign.
You can filter by Contact Information (city, country), Event Behavior (attended event, ticket type, events count), Purchase History (total spent, number of orders, last purchase date), and Campaign Engagement (received, opened, clicked, purchased from campaign).
1
Go to Marketing > Segments in your dashboard and click "Add Segment" to create a new audience segment.
2
Give your segment a descriptive name that reflects the audience (e.g., "Summer Festival Attendees", "High Spenders $500+", "Montreal VIP Customers").
3
Use pre-built templates for common use cases like "Recent Purchasers" or "Event Attendees", or switch to the Advanced tab to build custom filters with specific conditions.
4
Click "Add Condition" and select a field (Attended Event, Total Spent, City), an operator (is any of, greater than, equals), and enter the value. Add multiple conditions to narrow your audience.
5
Use AND to require all conditions match (narrower audience) or OR to match any condition (broader audience). Create multiple filter groups for complex targeting.
6
Watch the matching contact count update in real-time as you add conditions. Once satisfied, click "Save Segment" to use it in your campaigns.
